Suspect in disguise nabbed

On a tip-off, police camouflaged as wholesale coconut buyers, surrounded a workplace at Aththangane in Chilaw, and apprehended a coconut wholesaler (a pol mudalali), a suspect wanted in connection with a murder case and absconding for five years.

He was produced before the Marawila District Judge Nirosha Fernando, who remanded him till August 23.

The suspect who had been issued a warrant was in disguise as a coconut and cocunut-shells trader at the time police caught him.

Five others were taken into custody along with the suspect in connection with the killing of W. Philip Neri Tissera of Katuneriya. Further inquiries are being conducted by Marawila police.
