Major honour for SLA officer

National Defence College Philippines (NDCP), one of the most recognised higher military academic institutions in the world, presented its award for the Most Outstanding Student of 2010 to Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe of the Sri Lanka Army for his performances during the Masters in National Security Administration (MNSA) course 2008/2009 and commitment to humanitarian work being carried out for the benefit of people in Jaffna.

The award was presented to Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe by the Vice President of the Philippines Jejomar C. Binay during the Alumni Meeting 2010, an annual event of the NDCP held at Armed Forces Headquarters in Manila recently.

Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe was a student of the 44th MNSA Course which has been conducted by the NDCP since its inception in 1966. He also won the Golden Pen Award for the Best Student.
