Former representative to WTO joins FCCISL
Kulatunga Perera, an experienced trade policy practitioner in the
public service joined the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and
Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) in August. An authority on the subjects
of multilateral trade negotiations, trade promotions and macro-economic
policy formulation with a distinguished service record spanning over 40
years, Kulatunga Perera was last posted as Ambassador/Permanent
Representative of Sri Lanka to the World Trade Organization (WTO), based
in Geneva, Switzerland from 2008 to 2010.
He represented Sri Lanka's economic interests mainly protecting the
agriculture sector, rural livelihoods, regional development and food
security in the sphere of agriculture negotiations and advancing Sri
Lanka's export interests /market access for apparel and fisheries
products in the major markets of US and EU through the NAMA
negotiations.
Kulatunga began his career as a Sub-Manager at the Bank of Ceylon and
subsequently ventured into regional development planning in the Ministry
of Planning and Employment where he served the North Western Province in
the integrated Rural Development Project, Decentralized Budget and the
Divisional Development Council Program.
