OPA to assist in post conflict development

The Organisation of Professional Association (OPA) will implement the
post-conflict developments in the economic, social, and political
sectors in the country.
OPA President Prof. A.D.V. de S. Indraratna told a press briefing at
the Organisation's auditorium that the end of three decades of conflict
in the country has paved the way for extensive development activities in
the country.
"To make lasting peace a reality, more attention should be paid to
utilising the resources which were neglected due to three decades of
conflict in the country", the OPA Chief said.
The 23rd Annual Session of the Organisation of Professional
Association of Sri Lanka (OPA) will be held under the theme "Vision
2020, the way forward" at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo on October 1
and 2.
OPA President Prof. Indraratna said that the vision and mission of
this year's annual session is to eliminate poverty in Sri Lanka,
doubling income and achieving the ultimate goal of prosperity.
He said that the annual session of the previous year was held under
the theme "Challenges of the cessation of the terrorist hostilities".
Inclusive of the contents of last year's annual session a book will
be published, Indraratna said.
The OPA President said that in addition to the inauguration ceremony,
which is scheduled on October 1, a technical session will be held on the
second day. There will be four successive technical sessions.
Indraratna said that through such annual sessions and its findings,
the OPA has decided to give a helping hand to Government's ongoing
development projects.
We have invited intellectuals, researchers, economists and
professionals for the annual session of the OPA.
Deputy Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama will be the Chief Guest at
the inaugural session.
High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka, Asok K. Kantha and Douglas
Keh Country Director UNDP will deliver the keynote address on the
inaugural day.
