Sea plane domestic air service soon

The sea plane domestic air service will be launched shortly, said State Resources and Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratna.

He said, the sea plane domestic air service will benefit local and foreign air travellers immensely.

"It will be set up at the Madabokke lagoon close to the Katunayake Airport," he said.

The Deputy Minister said that the feasibility study has revealed that it will not cause water pollution or damage to fishery resources.

Representatives from fisheries societies and the fishing community, Fisheries Ministry, SriLankan Airlines and the Negombo Municipal Council, were present at a meeting held recently in this connection.
