National Heritage and Cultural Ministry in GSCT final

CRICKET: The National Heritage and Cultural Ministry entered the final of the Government Services Cricket Tournament defeating the Central Bank in the quarter-final and the Peradeniya University in the semi- final in their 40-overs cricket tournament played at the Health Grounds, Castle Street recently.

The National Heritage and Cultural Ministry entered the tournament for the first time and fared well to remain unbeaten in the tournament.

Cultural Department beat Central Bank by 168 runs.

Cultural Ministry: 238 in 40 overs (C.W. Ranil 63, K.W. Asitha 56, D.M. Namiz 46. P.K. Chatura 22, N.M. Alwis 5 for 46, M. Vithana 3 for 40)

Central Bank: 70 in 22.5 overs (G. Somadasa 14, R.G. Kumara 16, M.W. Charith 4 for 21, P.K. Lasantha 3 for 10, C.W. Lakmal 3 for 20)

Cultural Ministry beat Peradeniya University by 33 runs.

Cultural Ministry: 211 in 40 overs (C.W.Ranil 69, D. Namiz 39, S.W. Charith 19, K.W. Asitha 18, T.D. Ranasinghe 5 for 37, N. Sumanaratne 2 for 21)

Peradeniya University: 178 in 36.5 overs (Buddika de Silva 32, S. Nimalgoda 23, N. Sumanaratne 23, K.W. Asitha 2 for 24, M.W. Charith 2 for 39)

The final between the Cultural Ministry and The Health Department will be played on September 20 at the Health Grounds, Castle Street.
