Walawwas to promote tourism industry

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has invited owners of architectural bungalows, old Walawwas and picturesque lands to send information of their properties.

A spokesman from Sri Lanka Tourism said they will put the owners in touch with potential investors, or if willing to invest on their own, Sri Lanka tourism will facilitate necessary approvals. Photographs of land or house, information regarding the location, extent of property and expectation to lease, sell or invest must be sent.

Meanwhile, Grand Orient Hotel one of Sri Lanka's oldest hotels is seeking a partner to invest and manage the property under an international brand name.

The Bank of Ceylon, the parent firm of the Hotel, invited interested parties via paper advertisements to submit expressions of interest to invest and manage the hotel.

BOC says the interested parties should agree to invest to bring back the hotel to its original, status with modern facilities and then manage the hotel under an international brand name.

The 200 room capacity hotel is located in the heart of the City of Colombo overlooking the Colombo Harbour.
