European film festival
The European Film Festival is set to take Sri Lanka by storm once
again!! The Festival will commence in Colombo from 5 - 14 November and
then for the first time travel to the cities of Galle (17 - 21
November), Kandy (25 - 29 November) and Jaffna (1 - 5 December).
Twenty nine films from 9 European countries will be featured in
Colombo, while a selection will be showcased in Galle, Kandy and Jaffna.
All screenings are free of charge and on a first come first served
basis. One of the highlights of this year's film festival is the
screening of Stephen Poliakoff's latest film "Glorious 39" to be
featured on the closing night of the Colombo festival (14 November, 6.00
p.m.) at the National Film Corporation Cinema Hall (303, Bauddhaloka
Mawatha, Colombo 7). Passes for this screening are available for
collection at the British Council, Goethe Institut and Alliance
Francaise de Kotte.

Moving Focus
Renowned Indian artist Prof. K. G. Subramanyan will deliver an
illustrated lecture on 'Moving Focus' at the Indian Cultural Centre,
Colombo 4 on November 8 at 6 p.m.
Subramanyan is a contemporary Indian painter, celebrated for his wide
ranging scholarship and visual satires. The lecture will be followed by
a film screening on the painter. |
