Heavy rains expected

The Meteorology Department yesterday issued a weather warning and said that there would be heavy rains in certain parts of the country following disturbances in the sea, 600 nautical miles away from Jaffna.

Director of the Meteorology Department S.H. Kariyawasam said that Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and the Vavuniya districts will experience heavy rains, this week.

He cautioned the public to be vigilant.

He said that heavy rains could even be expected in the remaining parts of the country.

According to the Director, disturbances will also prevail in the high seas. He warned fishermen to refrain from fishing in deep seas.
