Elephant House opens ice cream plant

Elephant House has invested Rs 350-400 mln on a new ice cream plant
said President Consumer Foods Group JKH PLC Jit Gunaratne.
He said that the new sticks manufacturing machine installed at the
Kaduwela factory has the capacity to produce ice creams in two different
flavours in one stick. With the installing of this machine the company
also becomes the first to launch jelly based ice creams to the market.
The company launched a combination of sixteen flavours with the
launching of two different product categories namely two bar and mini
jumbo jolly, the total number of flavours added are nine.
The two bar range represents an ice cream hidden inside an ice cream
for ice cream lovers and includes vanilla and faluda, vanilla and
orange,lemon and mango, strawberry and jelly.
The mini jumbo jolly is available in 35 ml packs and is an extension
to the jumbo jolly range.
In addition the new wonder treat is for chocolate lovers. Gunaratne
said that ice cream is a huge contributor to the company’s revenue and
enjoys a 65 percent market share in Sri Lanka and 44 percent in the
Maldives. Wonder Bar and Jumbo Jolly led the ice cream market. Our
company helps the local dairy farmers by purchasing their milk, and also
growers of vanilla and cashew and treacle producers. |
