Slimline SC - Maiden champs in World Cup Mini Cricket

Slimline Sports Club, Pannala became the first champions of the World Cup Mini Cricket Six-a-Side tournament organised by Sri Lanka Cricket when they beat Super Youths Cricket Club, Katugastota by 31 runs in the finals played at Police Grounds, Kandy, yesterday.

Slimline SC batting first scored 53 for no loss in 5 overs and Super Youths SC replied with 22 for 5 wickets in 4.3 overs. A total of 52 teams participated in this tournament, organised in connection with the World Cup matches to be played at Pallekele next year.

Minister of Sports, Mahindananda Aluthgamage was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Chief Minister of Central Province Sarath Ekanayake was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed the awards.
