Ashan hero at Radella Hill Climb

Ashan Silva clocked the fastest time of the day while two class records were broken at the annual Radella Hill Climb organised by the Sri Lanka Association for Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) which was worked off at Radella Short Cut in Nanuoya yesterday.

A large holiday crowd took up vantage position in the tea fields of Carla Beck as the course meandered through it as they enjoyed every run of this racing event.

The weather kept fine which encouraged the spectators to stay on till the end.

Ashan de Silva who has met with lot of success since of late driving a Mitsubishi Evolution VII did a controlled run with skills combining with power to clock 33.19 seconds which was just short of the class record. In second place was Romani de Silva in a Sabaru Impressa timing 33.95 seconds. Arvinda Premadasa behind a Mitsubishi Evolution VII to time 34.13 seconds.

First record to go was in the Standard Motor Cycles event upto 250cc by Sheran Samuel on a Honda when he timed 41.78 seconds to eclipse the previous record of 42.49 seconds held by Maduranga Caldera.

The second for the day too belonged to Sheran Samuel when he clocked 39.75 seconds in the event for Standard Motor Cycles upto 600cc (2 stroke and 4 stroke to lower the record of 41.54 seconds held by W. M. Gunasinghe.

Group 0 Standard Motor Cycles upto 125cc 1. W. Heyshan Pasindu (Yamaha) 41.09 seconds.

Group MX. Racing upto 125cc 1. Sarath Kumarasinghe (Honda) 51.68 seconds.

Group 0 Standard Motor Cycles upto 250cc 1. Sheran Samuel (Honda) 41.78 seconds (New Class Record)

Group MX Racing Bikes upto 85cc 1. Vijitha Perera (Kawasaki) 43.93 seconds.

Group MX. Motor Bikes upto 250cc to 450cc 1. Sujith Karunasekera (Honda) 40.57 seconds.

Group SM Super Moltard Motor Cycles between 250cc to 450cc. 1. Ramal Pathiratne (Yamaha) 38.54 seconds

Group SL-N Cars upto 1600cc 1. Dilan Seneviratne (Honda) 37.53 seconds.

Group SLN Cars Nissan March 1000cc 1. Ashan de Silva 52.73 secs

Group SL-N Cars. upto 1500cc 1. Dinesh Senanayake (Suzuki Swift) 43.79 secs.

Group SL-A Cars upto 1050cc 1. Ajith Keerthi (Austin Mini) 42.38 seconds.
