Latest food products to be showcased

The Pro Food Pro Pack Exhibition 2011 will be held at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, Colombo from August 26-28.

It is organised by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association together with the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Agriculture, National Agribusiness Council and Processed Foods Development Initiative (Pvt) Ltd for the 10th consecutive year.

The exhibition will showcase the latest products in the local processed food industry, sampling of consumer favourites, innovation and technology development in packaging, newest agricultural machinery and services and processed food hygiene education.

The Ministry of Industrial Development will have a special pavillion to accommodate small and medium scale industrialists from the processed food and packaging industry located island-wide.

The pavillion was a tremendous success in the past and is a stepping stone for the SMI sector to meet trade buyers and introduce products.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the exhibition, the number of stalls allocated to companies will be increased encouraging more participation from the rural areas and entrepreneurs from the North and East.

There will be over 300 stalls from 15 countries including Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Pakistan, Dubai and Poland, said President, Sri Lanka Food Processors Association (SLFPA) Rohantha De Fonseka.

The exhibition will be a platform to discover and learn about the latest innovations in food processing engineering and Packaging services and meet supermarket buyers, importers and distributors on one platform.

There will be a cooking studio where housewives will get an opportunity to experience skills of well-known chefs who would showcase their culinary talent.

The main sponsors of the exhibition are Wraptech Machines India (local agent Trans Continental Packaging) and Ceylon Cold Stores as gold sponsors and Alfa Laval (Pvt) Ltd as silver sponsor.
