Govt’s policies open to constructive criticism
by Uditha KUMARASINGHE
Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem said that the Government always
welcomes any constructive criticism of its policies so that it can
implement what is best in a very consensual way.
The Minister said a proper democracy could function only if the
Government responds positively to constructive criticism.
Commenting on the present plight of the Opposition, Minister Hakeem
told the Sunday Observer that they welcome a very vibrant and effective
Opposition. But, unfortunately the Opposition is riddled with some
internal bickering. That is their own undoing,”
“We can only hope that they will resolve their internal issues,” the
Minister said.
Minister Hakeem said the Opposition has not considered its internal
problems seriously and looked into certain issues that need a lively
public debate.
