Double cab robbers apprehended

The double cab which was robbed at Daham Mawatha, Mount Lavinia last
week was traced to a house at Mawanella by a team of police officers
from the Mount Lavinia police investigating the robbery, the Police
Spokesman, SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer. The four
suspects involved in the robbery have been arrested by Sub Inspector
Sugathapala, the OIC Crimes of Mount Lavinia police station recently.
According to police the main suspect is a resident of Mawanella who
posed off as an Inspector of Police. The robbery took place when four
men intercepted the cab while it was being driven by its owner. The
robbers threatened to kill him with a knife and forcibly bundled him to
a three-wheeler and whisked him away before he was released.
The owner of the cab is a resident of Templer’s Road, Mount Lavinia.
The cab is worth Rs 1.6 million, police said. |
