Trinity in massive win over Kingswood

CRICKET: Trinity College, Kandy posted a record total of 402 runs in registering a massive 272 run win over Kingswood College in their schools under 17 Division One Cricket Tournament match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy on Friday.

This score of 400 runs is not only the highest total this season but also the highest achieved in this level of cricket in the hill capital.

Prolific run getter Bhagya Pallihawardana was once again in devastating form as usual to top score with an aggressive 115 with 17 fours and 2 sixes off only 92 balls. He was associated in third wicket stand of 134 with skipper Rajitha Jayatunga who made 68 with 11 fours and 1 six.

Kingswood College chasing this imposing total of 403 were dismissed for 103 with left arm spinner Lakshan Jayasinghe taking 4 for 9.

Trinity College: 402 for 9 in 50 overs (Dakshitha Disanayaka 59, Bhagya Pallihawadana 115, Rajitha Jayatunga 61, Ron Chandragupta 68, Tharindu Makuldeniya 36, Pubudu Samarasinghe 32 not out, Shaluka Walisundera 2 for 63, Prabath Jayasinghe 4 for 79).

Kingswood College: 130 all out in 30.5 overs (Mohammed Nuffal 31, Heshan Hettimulla 40, Dinuk Wickramanayaka 2 for 35, Lakshan Jayasinghe 4 for 9).
