Livelihood development projects implemented in North

The Government has implemented massive livelihood development projects in the North to improve the living standards of the people who were victimised by nearly three decades of LTTE terrorism. The Government along with its counterparts have implemented various housing projects in the North to restore the normal life of conflict-affected people.

The housing projects being implemented in Kilinochchi district with the assistance of the Indian Government are progressing. The Karaichchi housing project is nearing completion, according to Kilinochchi GA Rupavathi Kethiswaran. Houses are being constructed in Karaichchi and Kandawalai in the Kilinochchi district. .

The 17 houses being constructed in Karaichchi is nearing completion. The foundation has been laid for 40 housing units in Pachchilaipalli and the construction of those houses have partly been completed now, the GA said.

The construction of 20 housing units in Kandawalai is progressing. Over 250 housing units are being constructed in Kilinochchi with the assistance of the Indian Government.
