Temple redevelopment project by Nalanda College

Nalanda College Colombo with its Association for Dhamma Grama will launch a project to renovate one-thousand temples in the Northern and North Central Provinces. Buddhist temples in the North and North Central Provinces were damaged by the 30-year conflict.

The Association for Dhamma Grama will redevelop those temples as early as possible, said Child Development and Women's Affairs Minister and old Nalandian, Tissa Karalliyadda.

Renovation of damaged temples in Padaviya, Sri Pura, Weli Oya, and Kebithigollawa has since been undertaken. A new stupa at the Daluggala Old temple has been completed at a cost of Rs. 3 million. Electricity has also been supplied to Daluggala at a cost of Rs.30 million.

Child Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karalliyadda and Principal Nalanda College, Ranjith Jayasundara unveiled the plaque at the Daluggala temple.
