EDB to hold road show, business meetings in UK

The Export Development Board (EDB) and the Sri Lanka High Commission in London has organised a Road show and business meetings for selected ICT BPO exporters from Sri Lanka .

Around 55 applications were received by the EDB and we plan to select 8-10 companies for the event from November 8-10. in UK, said EDB Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka.

He said these companies and the EDB will make a presentation on the potential of the ICT BPO sector in Sri Lanka at the awards ceremony of the National Outsourcing Association of UK.

As the cream of the ICT sector in UK will be at the awards ceremony, it will be a tremendous opportunity for the country to showcase not only opportunities in the ICT BPO sector but also tourism as well as other items we export.

In addition, the companies will participate in one-on-one business meetings with top companies in the ICT BPO sector in the UK.

Ratnayaka said that EDB will partly finance the Road Show and the meetings while the cost of airfare and lodging will have to be borne by the individual companies. This is a good opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to network with their counterparts in the UK, promote their companies and build relations, said the Chairman.

A literate work force, conducive environment and political stability will woo investors to Sri Lanka. (SG)
