New DG at IBSL

Chandri Gunawardhana assumed duties as the Director General of IBSL. Gunawardhana is an Attorney-at-Law and a holder of Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Commercial Law from Monash University, Australia.

With over 20 years experience in regulatory compliance, public relations and legal functions, he was a member of the Legislative sub-Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, Insurance Lawyers Association of Singapore and the Australian Insurance Lawyers’ Association in addition to membership in a number of professional organisations.

Prior to his appointment as the Director General of IBSL, Gunawardhana was the Principal Consultant at Global Business Counselling, Singapore, the Regional Head of Regulatory Affairs for a multinational FMCG in the Asia Pacific Region and Head of the insurance law division at Julius and Creasy. Gunawardhana has provided legal and consultancy service to many multi-national organisations within and outside Sri Lanka on insurance law and regulatory compliance. He has also published Articles in national and international journals.
