A Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) will be appointed soon to resolve the problems of the people in the North and the East, said Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha. He said the proposal to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee was approved by the UPFA parliamentary group and later by the Cabinet.

The appointment of the Select Committee will be announced by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, he said.

"The Government is committed to seek a solution to resolve the problems of the people in the North and the East.

"We are willing to discuss the issue with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) or any other political party. Our doors are always open for discussions", he said. The main Opposition Party the UNP and the TNA have not yet decided to participate in the PSC.

Premajayantha said that all should be united to reach a solution to resolve the problems of people in the North and the East irrespective of petty party politics or other issues. All should unite and seek a solution to the problem, Minister Premajayantha said.
