Three hacked to death while asleep

A husband and wife and her brother were hacked to death while they were asleep at their residence on the Horana-Delgoda road in the Homagama area on Friday night, Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer.

A relative of the deceased reported the triple murder to the Homagama police. The assassin, however, had allegedly escaped from the house after committing the crime.

One of the deceased was identified as Anura Tilak Alvitigala (44), the Chief Kapurala of the Rankadu Pathini Devale in Kaduwela. The others were the Kapurala’s wife Mahayage Sudharsani (38) and her brother Mahayage Dilantha Ratnaweera (36). The motive for the killing is unknown.

Homagama police are conducting investigations on the triple murder, police said.
