Sunday observer SINGER Asian Fashion Designer 2011:
Make your cherished dream a reality
By Mahes PERERA
Never before has a fashion designer contest generated overwhelming
interest as the Sunday Observer Asian Fashion Designer 2011 presented by
Princy Butani. Shoals of entries have been received and if you are keen
on participating then hurry and send in your entry on the coupon
published in this page.
Remember entries close on September 30, and interviews will take
place soon after. So be prepared with your sketches in the seven
categories published - Smart casual/Ethnic wear, Evening glamour, Swim
wear, Office wear, Lingerie, Sarees, Sports wear.
This is your opportunity to hit the headlines not only here in Sri
Lanka but also abroad, because who knows if you are a winner in the
contest your designs could be chosen to be showcased on international
catwalks. How about that! Doesn't it sound exciting?
Princy Butani informs us that the unique competition is open to all
designers and designer institutes in the Asian region and the jury panel
will comprise elite industrialists and designers in the region.
Fashion enthusiasts who hitherto were not involved in the fashion
industry or who are inherently interested in fashion are invited to
enter themselves. Most of all students of fashion designing should make
it a point to express their creative ideas by sending in their sketches.
Once the closing date comes around a screening process will take
place to select the qualifying applicants who will be called for an
interview.
At the interview the sketches for the seven categories have to be
submitted by the applicants and the judges will select the qualifying
sketches of each applicant.
The
winners will be selected and awarded attractive prizes at the final
pageant. All finalists will also have the opportunity of meeting the
main sponsors who are pioneers in the fashion industry. The Sunday
Observer Asian Fashion Designer 2011 contest with the spectacular
pageant will be held at a leading hotel in Colombo.
The Sunday Observer Most Popular Contest will be a special feature
and for this the coupon will be published each week for readers to
participate and vote.
The winner will be announced at the evening of the glittering
pageant.
The presenter Princy Butani tells us that part of the proceeds will
be donated to the Sri Lankadhara Society to build classrooms for their
pre-school students.
