Phoenix Industries bags two awards

The commitment of Phoenix Industries to the environment, energy efficiency and packaging that guarantees safety of the contents with special emphasis on food received official recognition recently.

Phoenix Industries won the bronze award for energy efficiency awarded by Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority of the Ministry of Power and Energy. This was in addition to being awarded the ISO 22000: 2005 Certification for Food Safety.

The ISO Certification assumes significant importance. The manufacture of plastic packaging is protective of the environment as no trees are felled, or plants uprooted. Plastics play a vital role in protecting tender seedlings, reducing water evaporation and in the reduction of soil erosion actually promotes rapid crop development. This is in addition to preventing deforestation by offering substitutes for wood: Furniture, building materials and crates.

The finished plastic products are, with the approval of Food and Drugs Authorities worldwide, used globally for personal care products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and shampoo containers.

In the food and medicine category, plastics provide the packs for milk, edible oil and ice cream, while providing blister-packing for medicinal tablets, capsules apart from the disposables like IV bags, blood bags gloves.
