'Rainbow Pages joins Ministry of Indigenous Medicine to promote
Ayurveda'
In transforming Sri Lanka into Asia's miracle the contribution of
Ayurveda towards this end is immense. The world is directed towards this
system of medicine. "We should make this our strength and harness its
potential to increase the number of tourist arrivals and thereby take
the message of Ayurveda to the rest of the world. The commitment of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa to accomplish this is immense and is evident
in the Mahinda Chinthanaya. Therefore to reap the maximum potential and
harness its benefits, we must give publicity locally and then
internationally," a representative of Rainbow Pages said.
Rainbow Pages, a subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom, has taken steps to
produce the directory to promote the Ayurvedic concept in collaboration
with the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine.
The Minister of Indigenous Medicine, Salinda Dissanayake and Deputy
Minister of Indigenous Medicine Pandu Bandaranayake are committed
towards developing this vision. The major challenges in this context are
promulgating the act of Indigenous Medicine, enhancing the standards of
indigenous medicine currently practised in our country, optimising
research on indigenous medicine and locally harvesting plant ingredients
needed for the production of herbal medicine.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine and
Rainbow Pages is of paramount importance in making the brainchild of the
President successful. The CEO of SLT Rainbow Pages Malraj Balapitiya and
General Manager Ruwan Wijetunge represented SLT Rainbow Pages at the
press conference.
