Sri Rahula College grounds, Katugastota to be upgraded

SRI RAHULA GROUNDS: The Sri Rahula grounds in Katugastota will be done up for sports activities. The Ministry of Sports will bear the cost which is expected to be around Rs. 15 million.The school has a matting wicket for cricket, but the authorities are keen that the ground should be dug-up by about six inches and planted with grass and also to have a drainage system so that the outfield will be good for both cricket and also athletics.

For athletics, the officials want to lay a 200-metre track. There is also moves to construct a new pavilion and also have terraces round the ground so that it will help the spectators to watch cricket matches without difficulty.

MP Lohan Ratwatte, Chief Minister Central Province Sarath Ekanayake, Private Secretary of the Sports Minister N. Weeratunga discussed various issues regarding the upgrading of the ground. The project is expected to take around four months and the cost will be met by Ministry of Sports (Kandy).
