'SEC Investment Day 2011'
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) celebrating
its 24th anniversary in October has made arrangements to conduct an
educational exhibition and a road show titled 'Investment Day 2011' at
the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) on October 22
from 9.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
'Investment Day 2011' will comprise over 50 stalls from the Colombo
Stock Exchange, Stock broking companies, Unit Trust Management companies
and top listed companies. The road shows held so far in Galle, Kandy,
Kurunegala, Negombo and Ampara have been a tremendous success with the
participation of approximately 1,000 existing/potential investors at
each Road Show.
Jayantha de Silva wins ICT lifetime award
The ICT Lifetime Achievers Award/ most outstanding contribution award
was presented to vice president South Asia Region and Managing Director
IFS Sri Lanka Jayantha de Silva at the National Best Quality ICT Awards
(NBQSA) held last week. The award is given to recognise the individual
who has been instrumental in shaping the ICT landscape of Sri Lanka for
a long time.
Selecting the winner out of many prominent nominees was one of the
difficult tasks throughout the history of the event. The award is given
by ICTA and BCS and is the most important award at the event. The award
was won by de Silva for the contribution he made to the industry the
youth and the country for 34 years.
He was responsible to initiate the first ISO Certification in Sri
Lanka for software development, designing the first Customer Care
Billing System (CCBS) for Asia in year 1987, instrumental in designing
and developing the Agrarian Database for FAO in year 1980 and the First
Asian to present on the role 'Information in Agriculture' at CAB
International UK forum in September 1986.
People's Bank presents 50 houses in Madhu
People's Bank remains committed in contributing towards the
betterment of social and cultural fields in the country. The People's
Bank Golden Jubilee Housing Project is another initiative undertaken by
the Bank. ,
Fifty houses constructed along the Medawachchiya - Mannar road in
Madhu will be handed over to the recipients by Minister of Economic
Development Basil Rajapaksa. Under the guidance of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa with financial contributions from the staff of People's Bank
The corporate social responsibility project was initiated to uplift
the lives of those people living in the North and East who were the
victims of the conflict.
Hotel, hospitality and food Sri Lanka 2011, Exhibition
Hotel, hospitality and Food Sri Lanka Exhibition 2011 will be held
from October 27-29 at the Sri Lanka Convention & Exhibition Centre (SLECC).
This first-ever exhibition in Sri Lanka will bring together all
stakeholders under one roof.
It will provide the perfect platform for relevant stakeholders who
yearn to move their market share to the next level, to showcase their
products and services to a very large target audience.
It is organised by Pico, Sri Lanka and Montgomery Worldwide.
Divasa Finance ties up with Sun Insurance Brokers
Divasa Finance Limited has formed a strategic alliance with Sun
Insurance Brokers to provide its Leasing/Hire Purchase and loan
customers in-house total insurance solutions.
This arrangement will add value to Divasa customers who can now

rates.

Janashakthi and Singer tie up for on-line motor insurance policies
Janashakthi Insurance PLC and Singer Sri Lanka PLC recently launched
a service enhancement in motor insurance.
Anyone buying a motor cycle from a Singer outlet can also purchase a
Janashakthi Full Option Motor Insurance policy at the same time taking
customer service and customer convenience to the next level. Janashakthi
customers can also obtain any Motor Insurance policy irrespective of the
class of vehicle, from any Singer outlet islandwide.
Janashakthi Managing Director, Prakash Schaffter said that all of
Singer’s 350 outlets islandwide are connected online to the Janashakthi
Head Office.
Leema Creations wins award for excellence
Leema Creations received a Merit Award at the “CNCI Achiever Awards
2011” organised by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries.
Leema Creations are engaged in interior designing of houses, offices,
hotels, restaurants, shopping complexes and exhibition stalls.
HDFC walk
HDFC Bank organised a walk from the Bank’s head office to Galle Face
Green to commemorate World Habitat day. This year’s Habitat theme was
“Cities and Climate Change .” HDFC employees and the Students of Colombo
Grammar school, Battaramulla participated in the walk. Handouts were
distributed to make the public aware about Carbon footprint and Climate
change.

Orange Sports Nutrition launched

Ceylinco Healthcare Centre adds physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is the latest addition to the range of services on
offer at the Ceylinco Healthcare Centre at Park Street, Colombo 2.
The Senior Medical Officer Dr. Shyama Fernando said: “Physiotherapy
helps patients to be less dependent on others. It is physically and
psychologically important as it helps boost self esteem and aids
management of complications arising from illnesses.”
The launch of a physiotherapy service at the Ceylinco Healthcare
Centre will be convenient to those undergoing treatment at the Centre
and will be welcomed by others who seek professional physiotherapy
treatment in a comfortable, non-hospital atmosphere, she said.

JWT Colombo hosted a media briefing to introduce the Executive
Creative Directors (ECD’s) of JWT Asia Pacific who are in the island for
a regional meeting.
Known as ‘Passion Patrol’, the meeting is the region’s creative
gathering that takes place four times a year, every quarter to evaluate
the creative work executed by the 18 JWT APAC offices at which Michael
Maedel - President of JWT APAC and Middle East will also participate.
Valvoline conducts Regional Conference in Anuradhapura
Valvoline the lubricant division of United Motors Lanka PLC (UML)
rewarded its top dealers at the Regional conference at Heritage
Anuradhapura, recently.
It recognised and rewarded the best dealers for overall performance
and sales excellence in the Northern and North Central Provinces.
The company also recognised efforts made by dealers at district
level. UML announced the names of dealers from the Northern and North
Central Provinces who performed well in the recently concluded Champion
club promotion which entitles them to attend the annual Valvoline Dealer
Convention in the Philippines.
