Romeo cop in hot water

A police constable who entered a house at Ronanapura, Tissamaharama on Monday night was assaulted by an unidentified group after tying him to a tree, according to Tissamaharama police.

The police had visited the scene after receiving an information that a suspicious person had entered the house. The constable has been admitted to Debarawewa Hospital along with two persons who are alleged to have assaulted the policeman, with minor injuries.

According to the residents an illicit love affair is involved in this case and police has also recorded a statement from a woman.
