Jaffna Blind School win one, lose one
BLIND CRICKET: Jaffna Blind Youth won one match and lost the other in
their fourth annual Dilmah Challenge Trophy Cricket Tournament conducted
by the Sri Lanka Cricket Association of the Visually Handicapped.
At the Weeraketiya Pradeshiya Sabha Grounds, debutants Jaffna Blind
Association scored a convincing win by 67 runs over the fancied Sri
Lanka Council for the Blind.
Batting first, the Jaffna team made 193 and then they did well to
dismiss Sri Lanka Council for the Blind for 126.
Jaffna Blind Association: 193 (Umakalan 50, Kadishan 30 not out;
Madhushankar 3 for 24, Lalithkumar 2 for 17).
SLCB: 126 in 22 overs (Lalithkumar 29 not out; Pulendran 3 for 24,
Prakash 2 for 6).
Then playing their second match against school for the Blind,
Tangalle, the Jaffna Blind Association were shot out for 75 which gave
the Tangalle team a huge win by 288 runs.
Tangalle opener Mahesh Ruwan made 174 not out and Janitha Vimukthi 80
and their partnership realised 200 runs for their opening stand and it
enabled them to make a massive score of 363 for 4 wickets. The Jaffna
team was dismissed for 75. This was the first visit to Hambantota for
the Jaffna team and the boys were thrilled.
School for the Blind, Tangalle: 363 for 4 wks (Mahesh Ruwan 174 not
out, Janith Vimukthi 80, Kasun 22 not out).
Jaffna Blind Association: 75 (Jatheevan 13; Kasun 4 for 20, Warnakula
2 for 12, Krishan 2 for 15).

Neth Savan Sarana beat Ratmalana 'B' by five wickets in their 4th
annual Dilmah Challenge Trophy cricket tournament match played at the
Somaweera Chandrasiri Grounds, Piliyandala.
Ratmalana 'B': 131 (Kalum 14, Damith 13; Ratnasiri 2 for 16, Sanjeewa
2 for 25).
Neth Savan Sarana: 133 for 5 wkts (Prasanna 41 not out, Tarindu 14). |
