UNESCAP space meeting in Colombo
Sri Lanka will host the 15th Session of the Intergovernmental
Consultative Committee of the UNESCAP's Regional Space Application
Programme for Sustainable Development along with a Consultancy Meeting
on Regional Cooperative Mechanisms as the subject, from October 25 to 27
in Colombo.
The Regional space Application Programme for Sustainable Development
(RESAP) is UNESCAP's regional program for promoting the use of space
technologies for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific Region.
A Consultative Meeting on 'Regional Cooperative Mechanisms on space
applications for Effective Disaster Management and Sustainable
Development' and the 15th Session of the Intergovernmental consultative
Committee on Space Applications for Sustainable Development' organised
by the UNESCAP and hosted by the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern
Technologies will also be held.
The objective of the consultative meeting is to discuss and review
the regional cooperative mechanisms on affordable access and effective
use to space-based tools and applications for disaster management and
other development concerns, and to provide inputs to the
intergovernmental Consultative Committee which will provide guidance to
the members and the secretariat on promotion of the same in the region.
The two events will be attended by delegates from countries in the Asia
and Pacific region, UNESCAP and other regional organisations.
