Sri Lankans brief Aussie Minister

Senior Sri Lankan community leaders from Melbourne, Gamini Perera, Prof. Priyantha Mendis and Dr. Ranjith Hettiarachchi met Senior Ministers of the Australian Government, Minister for Justice and Home Affairs, Brendan O'Connor to discuss Sri Lankan Government's reconciliation efforts and the Sri Lankan President's visit to Perth to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting and to lobby support from the Australian Government to Sri Lanka's efforts.

The community leaders described the negative effort of the campaign to discredit Sri Lanka Australia relationship. They briefed the minister on the overall reconciliation efforts. They also mentioned the tireless work of the High Commissioner Thisara Samarasinghe in bringing all Sri Lankan ethnic groups living in Australia together.

The Australian Minister acknowledged these issues.
