
Observer-Mobitel cricket awards on ITN Oct 27

OBSERVER-MOBITEL:The 33rd Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Schoolboy
Cricketer of the Year Show , 2011 which was held at the hotel Galadari
Grand Ballroom will be telecast over The Independent Television Network
(ITN) on Thursday October 27 , at 10.00pm.
The gala event to felicitate young aspiring schoolboy cricketers will
no doubt give them added credence as the show is interspersed with
variety entertainment will keep the viewers spellbound.
The Chief Guest of the Show was non other than retired champion
spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who himself was a recipient of the award in
1991 as a schoolboy at St.Anthony’s College, Katugasthota.
Besides the Chief Guest, there are also many distinguished
personalities including the Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Sports
Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, ANCL Chairman Bandula Padmakumara and
hierarchies of the sponsors Sri Lanka Telecom/Mobitel. Two Royalists
reigned supreme, as Bhanuka Rajapakse won the coveted award for the
second time while his team mate Ramith Rambukwella was voted as the Most
Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year (All Island). Sanka Ramesh of
Moratu Vidyalaya won the ‘big’ award in the Outstation Competition and
Keshan Gamage of Vidyartha College Kandy was voted the Most Popular
Schoolboy Cricketer of the year (Outstation). The entire proceedings of
the Show will be unfolded on October 27 (Thursday) from 10.00pm onwards
on ITN. |
