Sangamitta Girls School and Maliyadeva win U-12 girls and boys chess

Chess: Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala and Sangamitta Girls School,
Galle won the Boys Under-12 category and Sangamitta Girls School won
girls under-12 Chess Tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess
Association and held at Dharmaraja College Hall from October 14 to 16.
There were 1,760 participants from 314 schools from all over the island
that participated.
Besides the under-12 tournament, there was also the under-10
tournament that was held and there the boys tournament was won by
Richmond College, Galle while the Girls Tournament was won by Southland
Girls School while the under-10 boys tournament went to Richmond
College, Galle.

Galle. 2. Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda, 3. Maliyadeva Balika,
Kurunegala,
Under-10 Boys A division: 1. Richmond College, Galle, 2.
Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, 3. Ananda College, Colombo.Under-12 Boys
A division: 1. Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala. 2. Ananda College,
Colombo. 3.Dharmaraja College, Kandy.
Under-12 Girls A division: 1. Sangamitta Girls School, Galle.
2. Ave Maria Convent, Negombo, 3. Furguson High School, Ratnapura.

Under-10 B division girls: 1. Sacred Heart Convent, Galle.
2. St. Marys, Matara, 3. Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy.
Under-10 B division boys: 1. St. Annes Kurunegala, 2.
Prince of Wales, Moratuwa, 3. All Saints, Galle.
Under-12 B division girls: 1. Dharmasoka College,
Ambalangoda, 2. S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Kurunegala. 3. Tissa
Central, Kalutara.
Under-12 B division Boys: 1. Manawila Upananda Vidyalaya,
Galle, 2. Siri Damma Vidyalaya, Galle. 3 St. Servatius, Matara.
Sarath Ekanayake the Chief Minister, Central Province was the Chief
Guest and gave away the awards. S.M. Keerthiratne the Principal of
Dharmaraja College was the guest of honour. |
