Akshaya Kumarajeewa (St Joseph’s) wins three Bronze Medals
at Asian Age Group Swimming Championsips in Jakarta.

SWIMMING: Akshaya Kumarajeewa of St Joseph’s College, Colombo
representing Sri Lanka at the 7th Asian Age Group Swimming Championships
held in Jakarta, Indonesia, won 3 bronze medals for Sri Lanka.
This International Swimming Championship where swimmers from over 20
countries participated was held from 5th to the 13th of October this
year. Akshaya improved on the National Record for the 200 metres
Breaststroke event by clocking a time of 02.32.76. He also won bronze
medals for his country in the 50m Breaststroke and the 100m Breaststroke
events.
Akshaya also won 10 silver medals for Sri Lanka in the Sri
Lanka-Karnataka Swimming Meet held in Bangalore, India this August. He
is trained by Ruwan Manawadu, Head Coach of St Joseph’s College, Colombo
