D.A. Rajapaksa commemoration

The 44th death anniversary commemoration of the late Minister D.A. Rajapaksa will be held at Tangalle Town Hall tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The ceremony will commence after the offering of floral tributes to the statue by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Hambantota district UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa and other family members. Later the Ministers and other invited guests will also offer floral tributes.

The D.A. Rajapaksa memorial oration will be delivered by former Speaker and Sabaragamuwa Province Governor W.J.M. Lokubandara. Scholarships will be offered to students at this ceremony.

In addition, prizes and certificates will also be given to students who were the winners of essay and oratorical competition, organised in memory of the late D.A. Rajapaksa, who played a key role in the formation of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
