Errant fishermen on bail

Fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activity in the Sparrow island forest reservation, off the coast of Neelaveli in the Trincomalee area have posed a threat to the ecological balance affecting the bio diversity of the entire region.

Environmental degradation could result if preventive measures are not taken to ban fishing in the forest reservation, the Police Media Spokesman, SP Ajith Rohana told the Sunday Observer.
