Reminiscences of a Peoples President, a 20-page supplement to mark President Mahinda Rajapaksa's sixth anniversary of assuming office as Sri Lanka's fifth Executive President on November 19, 2005 will be issued free with the Sunday Observer next week.

Christian Unity Rally for Christmas

In the afterglow of the Christian Unity Rally for Pentecost, the Inter Church Fellowship (ICF) will conduct a Christian Unity Rally for Christmas on Saturday, December 10 at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

Messages on the theme will be given by representatives of the Catholic Church, The National Christian Council and the Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka. The rally will also include carols by choirs from different churches and Christmas plays.

The ICF comprising clergy and laity of about ten denominations is on a mission for Christian unity in diversity as a first step towards lasting peace, justice and unity in our country and in the world.

All are welcome.


Katina pinkama

The annual Katina Pinkama of the Sri Kalyani Rajamaha Viharaya will be held on November 10 for the 40th time under the patronage of Viharadhipathi Ven (Prof) Kollupitiye Sri Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Nayaka Thera with the assistance of President M A Herath of the Sri Seela Bhavana Society of the Vihara.

The Katina Cheevara Perahera will begin from S H Hewage's residence at 1225, Biyagama Road, Kelaniya at 4.30 am.

The presentation of Katina Cheevaraya will take place at 6 am. The Katinanisansa Dharma Desanawa will be held at 8 pm to terminate this year's Katina Pinkama at Sri Kalyani Raja Maha Viharaya.


COSLAM Poya day lecture

The Conference of Sri Lankan Malays (COSLAM) will hold its monthly Islamic lecture series, 'in the shade of the Holy Qur'an' at the YMMA, Dematagoda, on Thursday, November 10 at 10.00 am.
