Trinitian Percival claims hat-trick, but Antonians win on 1st innings

CRICKET: St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota, scored a first innings win over their traditional rivals Trinity College in their Schools under 13 Division One cricket tournament match played at the Prison grounds, Pallekele.

Highlight of the match was the performance of 11-year-old medium pacer B. T. Percival of Trinity College who performed the rare feat of a hat-trick in a junior match but yet he found himself on the losing side as the ‘lions’ did not consolidate or go for the ‘kill’ after this hat-trick.

Percival performed the hat-trick in the last ball of his third over and followed up with wickets in the first two balls of his fourth over as the score slumped from 9 for no loss to 9 for 3.

Trinity College: 98 all out in 38.1 overs (S. Shangi 37, L. S. Boyagoda 25, N. Alavi 2 for 25, Virajith Jayasinghe 5 for 22, Janindu Himsara 2 for 7) and 33 for 2 wkts in 9 overs.

St. Anthony’s College: 146 for 8 decl. in 36.1 overs (Janindu Himsara 10, Sameera Jayasinghe 30, Janny Fleming 28, R. Sathiyaseelan 11, Asela Jehan 29, S. T. Percival 4 for 29).
