'Good leadership has unleashed people's productive potential' - High
Commissioner for Rwanda
"Good leadership has unleashed the people's productive potential",
said High Commissioner for Rwanda Williams Nkurunziza based in New Delhi
addressing participants at the "Presentation on Investing in Rwanda"
organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in association with the Sri
Lanka-Africa and Middle East Business Council recently at Hotel
Galadari, Colombo.
The Government of Rwanda attaches importance to the tourism industry
as it is a major growth sector of the economy and a leading foreign
exchange earner. Endowed with unique tourism assets such as the world's
largest population of the endangered mountain gorillas, a third of
Africa's bird species, a rainforest with over 1,000 animal species
including lakes, islands and volcanoes, the sector continues to attract
tourists and private sector investors into Rwanda's young hospitality
industry.
Regarding investing in Rwanda, he said "the best incentive Rwanda
offers to investors is non-fiscal, pro-business climate". Besides being
safe and predictable, Rwanda has been hailed for its culture of
intolerance for corruption.
Many untapped investment opportunities are available for investors
such as infrastructure development, agriculture, energy, tourism, real
estates, construction, financial services and Information and
Communication Technology. Distribution, markets especially supermarkets
and cold chain infrastructure for export products are also on offer.
