Textured Jersey well on course to win second title

Textured Jersey, who won the MCA “Centenary Year” 2011 “F” division title just six months ago, their first ever MCA title , is well on course to lift another MCA division in the same year.

Textured Jersey amply justified their promotion to the “Elephant – Lemonade” Cup, MCA “D” division 50 overs League Tournament 2012, when they advanced to the Final to meet Softlogic Group this Sunday, 18th December, at the MCA grounds, commencing 10.00 am.

Textured Jersey won the “F” division, beating Aitken Spence Group in the Final on 18th June 2011 at the same venue.

Softlogic, too is playing first time in this division. At the completion of the league stage matches, Textured Jersey finished 2nd in Group “A”, with wins against Hayleys Group and DPMC “A”; Softlogic finished as the leader in Group “B” with wins against PABC and Airport & Aviation and a No-Result against SL Telecom “A”.

Both teams had one blemish each in the league stage Textured Jersey losing to Mobitel by 13 runs on October 20th at MCA, while Softlogic losing to John Keells “B” by 10-runs on November 20th, at Thurstan grounds.

Both finalists had to fight for their lives in the quarter finals, Textured Jersey narrowly beating John Keells “B” by 10 runs and Softlogic nosing through to a two-wickets win over DPMC “A”.

Textured Jersey had their biggest thrill when they beat Mobitel by 28 runs in the Semi-Final, thus taking sweet revenge over their loss in the league outing.

Softlogic entered the final with a grand 96 run win over Hayleys Group RC.

In the final Softlogic will certainly unleash their two inform players, strike bowler, Ishara Wickramasinghe, with 20 wickets under his belt and centurion, Chaminda Niroshan (130 No. Vs. PABC & 93 no. Vs. Airport & Aviation in the league stage)

Textured Jersey will look up to their skipper, Nuwan Alahakoon (98 Vs. Hayleys in the semi-final) and Tharaka Dinesh (78 Vs. J. Keells “B” in the Quarter final) to pile up the runs to give their bowlers a fighting chance in the Final.
