For 34th year in succession :
Siddhalepa welfare service for Sri Pada pilgrims
The Siddhalepa Company is conducting its community welfare service
for the benefit of Sri Pada pilgrims for the 34th year in succession
since 1979. 32 toilets for women and 32 for men at Makarathorana,
Gangulatenna, Seethagangula, Golutenna and Indikatupana have been
painted, renovated and new buckets provided. The maintenance has been
handed over to the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha. The Siddhalepa Company
has also renovated and painted separate bathing places and changing
rooms for men and women at Makarathorana and Seethagangula. Six bathing
places each for men and women have been built at Gangulatenna.
Ceilings have been fixed and a fresh coat of paint has been given for
the rest rooms at Gangulatenna, Seethagangula and Indikatupana. In
addition, the company has installed 132 sign boards displaying stanzas
from the Thun Sarana starting from Makarathorana point upto Sri Pada
Maluwa. 480 litter bins have been fixed on the upper and lower reaches
after lamp posts.
At the Gangulatenna Siddhalepa First Aid camp, pilgrims are given
free massages with Siddhalepa balm with glasses of “Lakpeyawa”.
The facility will be available for over a period of six months, day
and night. There are also 200 chairs for the pilgrims. From Nallathanni
to Gangulatenna 136 boards exhorting litterbugs to protect the
environment. |
