TFC opens branch in Jaffna
February 10, marked a significant milestone in the history of The
Finance Company PLC. It will function from Powerhouse Road, Jaffna. The
branch was opened on February 10.
The Finance Company PLC opened its first branch on February 6, 1976
in Jaffna. The branch has been re-located in the same premises from
where it originally functioned, more than 35 years ago. The Jaffna
branch maintained close ties with the local community for over three
decades. The Finance Company PLC was the only financial institution
which operated in Jaffna continuously.
The branch was opened by Governor of the Central bank Ajith Nivard
Cabraal. Senior Central Bank officials including the Deputy Governor,
Ananda Silva, and Additional Director Non-bank Supervision, H.M.
Ekanayake, GA Jaffna, Imelda Sugumar, Chairman of the Finance Company
PLC, Preethi Jayawardena and key Board Members were present. "the city
today is fast becoming the economic hub of the North and having our very
own building makes our presence in Jaffna stronger and would also gear
us to meet the needs of this dynamic community", said Chairman, Preethi
