Vast development in North - Governor

Governor, Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal called upon
entrepreneurs in the country, including the owners of Finance Companies,
Bankers and hoteliers to make their contribution towards the development
of the North at this juncture when the entire Northern District has
achieved full freedom after three decades.
He was speaking after opening the Finance Company branch at a new
location in Jaffna. The Finance Company, Chairman, Preethi Jayawardane
and Jaffna, Government Agent, Imelda Sukumar were present on the
occasion.
Governor, Cabraal said unlike earlier, vast development in the fields
of health, education, transport, road construction and agriculture could
now be seen in the entire Northern Peninsula and urged apeople in the
country to make their contributions to carry out further development
activities.
He said although many financial institutions and bankers were
reluctant to commence their business in Jaffna several years ago, most
of them have now changed their attitude and pledged their willingness to
start investing considering the vast change of the situation in Jaffna.
He said as there is no end of the education received by a person
until death, the Government too continuously carry out development
activities in the Northern District as well as in other districts.
He thanked the management of The Finance Company to start their
business in Jaffna, since finance companies could play a major role to
develop the country.
He said when finance companies provide loans to people, others in the
society such as carpenters, masons, building constructors and labourers
will benefit.
The Finance Company Chairman, Preethi Jayawardane thanked the CB
Governor for its contribution toward the development of the company at
crucial times they faced several years ago. |
