commemorative rally to mark the completion of 56 years of the 1956
historic political change led by Mahajana Eksath Peramuna under the
leadership of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, D.A. Rajapaksa and Philip
Gunawardena will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday at the Vihara Mahadevi Park,
Colombo, Vice President, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) and Sri Lanka
Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation (SLADC) Chairman Somaweera Chandrasiri said.
The commemorative rally has been organised by the MEP with the
assistance of all progressive, political and social organisations, he
said.

The SLADAC Chairman said that the 1956 victory is important in
today's situation. The capitalists, local and foreign anti-government
elements are against the progressive march led by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa. Their dream is to set up a pro-US government in Sri Lanka.
The move to impose sanctions against Sri Lanka and level human rights
charges are clear examples of the anti-government elements, he said.
