Fuel subsidy - some fishing in troubled waters

At a time when the Government had taken steps to provide a fuel subsidy it was not fair for certain elements to resort to fishing in troubled waters, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Rajitha Senaratne said. The Minister said that the discussions with representatives of Fisheries Societies had helped find a favourable solution to their problem.

The first month's payment of the fuel subsidy has been deposited with the relevant fuel stations, Minister Senaratne said. The Fisheries Ministry has sent a circular on fuel subsidy to the district authorities. MN
