 Sanath
Gunatilake's directorial debut Ekamath Eka Rataka will be screened in
Belgium during the 28th Mons International Film festival (FIFA) under
its international section. The film has been selected by a jury of
prestigious cinema critics and directors led by Mahamat Saleh Haroun,
Jean-François Amiguet and Abbas Bakhtiari. Dubbed as the oldest,
uninterrupted French-speaking film festival, the Mons Film Festival has
become a crossroad for many film industry professionals from both the
North and the South, and the festival is now considered as the most
important event in French-speaking Belgium.
Basing on French writer Emile Zola's novella Pour une nuit d'amour
(For One Night of Love), one of the most controversial writing of its
time, Ekamath Eka Ratakahas gained critical acclaim for its depiction of
grotesque world behind the dark-side of human life and grimy nature of
human existence.
The first Sri Lankan film to be screened in Belgium, Ekamath Eka
Rataka will be premièred on February 29, 2012 at 6.30 p.m. at the Imagix
cinema complex in Mons - Belgium. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Belgium has
coordinated the event, while Sri Lankan Airlines contributes to the film
festival as a co-sponsor.
