Suddek Oba Amathai

The 75th show of Suddek Oba Amthai ,one of the most critically-acclaimed and popular Sinhala dramas in recent times, will be staged on March 2 at the Tower Hall Theatre at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

The play is written and directed by Udayasiri Wickramaratne, and features stellar performances by some of the well-known actors and actresses.

The cast includes Jayalath Manoratne, Nalin Pradeep Udawelage and Madani Malwattage. The smusical core is composed by Lalith Wickramaratne.

Rohan Samaradiwakara is in charge of the set, while Ranga Samarakoon handles lighting. Susil Wickramasinghe is the production manager.


Inaugural performance of Sri Lanka's national oriental music orchestra

The inaugural performance of the Sri Lanka's national multi-ethnic oriental youth orchestra, showcasing the diverse ethnic and regional musical traditions that exist in the country will be held on March 6 at the New Kathiresan Hall, Colombo 04 from 6 p.m. to 9p.m.

Oriental Music Orchestra

The orchestra project was spearheaded by the Institute of Human Excellence (IHE) and the Aru Sri Art Theatre. The project is funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Concerts Norway, under the Music cooperation between Norway and Sri Lanka.

The repertoire artistes include renowned international artists from India(Ranghu Dixit), Norway(Litjtausa), Bangladesh(Chhayanaut Baouls), and Palestine (Sabreen) , who will be performing in the music festival in Galle on March 3 and 4.

The "Oriental Music Orchestra" project brought talented youngsters from different ethnic groups in Sri Lanka i.e. Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burgher artistes, to perform together, respect each other's culture, to have a better understanding of diverse musical traditions, to develop their talents and to get the feeling of oneness.

The project has given young artists from remote areas, give them a standard training, an exposure to learn and work with senior artists of Sri Lanka and also learn and respect different traditions of music.Kalasoori Arunthathy Sri Ranganathan is the Artistic Consultant, together with a group of eminent artists Somasiri Ileysinhe ,Dr (Mrs).Nirmala Kumari Rodrigo,Thavasilingam, Shasthrapathi Kumara Liyanawatte, Dr.(Ms) Balambigai Rajeswaran, Rathai Kumarathas, S.Gobithas,S.Packiyaluxmi Nadarajah,.Thibaharan,Yamuna Uswatta and Gayanath as the Instructors .
