Superb century by Sadeera

An unbeaten 104 by Josephian Sadeera Samarawickrema was the highlight in the drawn school cricket encounter between Ananda and St. Joseph’s at darley Road yesterday.

In reply to the Joes 257 for 9 declared in the first Innings the Anandians were 150 for 4 overnight and were all out for 192. Opener Geshan Wimaladharma top scored with 80. Piyamal Perera was the top wicket taker for the Joes with 5 for 49).

St. Joseph’s: 257 for 9 declared and 197 for 6 declared ( Sachin Hewawasam 26, Sadeera Samarawickrema 104 n.o, Vidusha Jayasinghe 33, Hiran Wijesuriya 3 fior 46, Pasindu Madushan 2 for 59)

Ananda: 150 for 4 overnight 192 (Geshan Wimaladharma 80, Thushara Samarakoon 22, Yashan Samarasinghe 3 for 30, Piyamal Perera 5 for 49,) and 108 for 4 at close (Geshan Wimaladharma 25, Thushara Samarakoon 43)

Nalanda force a draw

The Nalanda – S. Thomas’ school cricket encounter ended in a draw at Mount Lavinia’ yesterday.

In reply to the Thomians first Innings score of 216, Nalanda were shot out for 113. Nalanda following on helped by a valiant 132 by Woshantha Silva with 18 fours off 164 deliveries reached 382 in their second innings.

S. Thomas’ 216 ( Ramitha Gunaratne 46, Dhanush Pieris 35, T.Sumanasiri 24, Nikila Weerasinghe 3 for 43, Koshan Danushka 3 for 74, Malinda Vimukthi 2 for 17)

Nalanda: 113 V. Wickremarachchi 21, Pramud Hettiawatte 27 n.o, M. Ravichandrakumar 5 for 21, Chamod Pathirana 2 for 33) and 382 (Woshantha Silva 132, Koshan danushka 41, Ishan Rangana 81, Chamod pathirana 2 for 48, T. Sumanasiri 2 for 52)
