Police raid unlicensed massage parlour

Nine women were taken into custody when the Walana Vice Squad swooped on a plush unlicensed herbal massage parlour and steam bath in Kollupitiya last week, Police said.

The Vice Squad, armed with a search warrant from the Colombo Magistrate Courts, took in to custody the manager of the unauthorised herbal parlour for questioning. “The massage parlour had no licence from the Ayurveda Department to conduct herbal massages”, Police said.

Further inquiries have revealed that the nine women employed at the massage parlour were not qualified or trained to massage clients. The women, from distant provinces, were between the ages of 20 and 30. They were handed over to the Kollupitiya Police to be produced before Court, Police said. JJ
