Sports Festival for differently Abled Youth on March 20 and 21 at
Maharagama

SPORTS FESTIVAL: For the first time in the history of the National
Youth Services Council they have organised a separate National Level
Sports Festival for differently abled youth (13 to 29 age category).
Sports Festival to be held on March 20 and 21 at the Sri Lanka Youth
Services grounds in Maharagama.
The sports activities will be held in six sectors, namely total
vision impaired, Partly vision impaired, Talking impaired, Hearing
impaired, Mentally retarded and cheel-chair users. There are 68 sports
events (Track and Field) and a relay race will be included in the
program.
The competitions are limited to those members of a youth club
affiliated to the NYSC. The sportsmen and sportswomen who wish to
participate at the sports festival should meet a youth officer attached
to every Divisional Sectariat to be a member.
The inaugural ceremony of the Sports Festival will be held on March
20 at 9.30 a.m. under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Duminda Dissanayake. The awards ceremony
of the Sports Festival will be on March 21 at 4 p.m under the patronage
of Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, Secretary to the Ministry
S. S. Hewapathirana and the Chairman/Director General of NYSC Lalith
Perera will also grace the occasion.
